Create a review wall
Make a wall, carousel or single-quote box of your approved reviews. Choose its layout, your website's background, look, websites and which reviews it shows.
A review wall is a box of your approved reviews that you place on your website. The dashboard calls it a widget. Make one for each page or layout you need. If you don't have a website, your standalone page shows your reviews at laudely.com.
Create a wall
Open Widgets in your space menu.
Press New widget.
Type a Name that helps you find it later, such as "Homepage wall".
Choose a Layout, set Your website's background, and under Look the colours, corners and font if you like.
Under Allowed domains, list the websites where the wall will appear, one per line.
Check the Display options.
Press Create. The widget's page opens with your embed code.
Each part of the form starts closed and shows its title with your current choice; press the title to open or close it (on a new widget, Name and Allowed domains start open).
Under Layout and most choices under Look, the form says what the one you chose does; so does Your website's background while the cards use Match my website's background. To read about another choice before you pick it, press ? beside its name.
While your space has no widget, Create a widget under Overview > Preview and share opens the same form.
Layouts and your website's background
Wall shows your reviews in columns: one on a phone, up to three on a wide screen.
Carousel shows one row of reviews that visitors move through with arrows.
Single quote shows one review at a time, moving on every few seconds, with dots to jump between reviews. It pauses on hover or while a video plays, and doesn't show photos.
In Single quote, a review you imported or typed in shows its Featured quote if you set one in Edit testimonial. Reviews from your collect page are always shown in full.
Your website's background tells Laudely whether your website is light or dark, and Laudely picks the card and text colours to match. It doesn't change your website's colour. If your site is white or light, choose Light (white or light website); if it's black or dark, choose Dark (black or dark website). Auto (follows the visitor's phone or computer) uses each visitor's light or dark setting.
Look
Under Look, make the wall match your website. Every plan can change it, Free included. To change it later, open the widget under Widgets and scroll down to Look.
Card background: Match my website's background follows Your website's background above, See-through lets your page show behind the reviews, and Custom colour gives every card one colour, in light and dark mode alike.
Text colour: with Match my website's background or Custom colour cards, choose Automatic or Custom colour. With Automatic, Laudely picks dark or light text for the card colour, so it's always easy to read. With Custom colour, the text takes a colour you choose, and the wall uses it exactly as you chose it. With See-through cards, the choices are Follow the website background, Dark text, Light text and Custom colour. Once you choose Dark text, Light text or Custom colour there, Your website's background no longer changes the wall.
Button and link colour: the arrows of Carousel, Read more, source links, the edge of highlighted reviews and the current dot in Single quote. Tick Use my own colour to choose one; otherwise it's blue. The preview shows it on a small arrow and on Read more.
Corners: Round, Slightly round or Square.
Show a border around each card: on at first. Highlighted reviews keep a thin edge in the button and link colour.
Font: Standard font, Serif, Handwritten or My website's font. Standard font is your visitor's usual system font. Serif has small strokes at the ends of the letters, as in a book. These two are already on your visitor's device, so nothing is downloaded for them, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean text uses fonts made for the wall's language. Handwritten looks like neat writing with a pen; see below.
With Handwritten, Laudely sends the font from its own server, so it looks the same on every device, Windows and Android included. Each wall language gets its own open-source font: Chinese in a kaishu style (LXGW WenKai, with Traditional or Simplified forms to match the wall's language), Japanese in Klee One, Korean in Gaegu, Thai in Mali and every other language in Kalam. The first time someone opens the wall on your site, the browser downloads only the parts it needs (for Chinese, about 1–2 MB), so the text may show in the standard font for a moment. Text in another writing system and rare characters the font lacks show in the standard font.
With My website's font, the wall uses the font of the web page you put it on, by itself, so there's nothing else to set. The preview in the form shows the dashboard's font; you'll see the real look once the wall is on your site.
Type a colour code such as #1d4ed8, or press the square beside it to pick one.
The wall uses your own colours exactly as you choose them. If your text colour or your button and link colour is hard to read on the cards, the form warns you with a triangle icon before you press Save, under the colour and under the preview, and says how close the colours are (easy reading needs a contrast of at least 4.5:1; on See-through cards, buttons and links need 7:1, to leave room for your page's colour). Press Use a readable colour to put a readable shade of your colour in the field. If visitors may see both white and dark cards (Auto (follows the visitor's phone or computer)), no single colour reads on both, so the form offers Use Automatic for the text and Use the default blue for buttons and links instead. Colours Laudely picks itself, such as Automatic text and the stars, always stay easy to read. With See-through, Laudely can't see your page's colour, so check the wall on your site. With Your website's background set to Auto (follows the visitor's phone or computer), Follow the website background gives visitors in dark mode light text, so choose Dark text or Light text unless your site turns dark too.
Allowed domains
The wall only loads on the domains you list, and the match is exact. Add both the www and non-www versions (example.com and www.example.com) and any preview domain your website builder uses.
Display options
| Option | Starts as | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Show highlighted testimonials only | Off | Shows only reviews you highlighted |
| Show star ratings | On | Shows each review's stars |
| Show aspect ratings | On | Shows the customer's stars per aspect; offered only if your space has aspect ratings |
| Show source and verification label | On | Shows Collected directly or Provided by business; the label links to where the review was posted, if there is a link |
| Show dates | On | Shows the review date |
| Show who served the customer | Off | Adds "Served by …" when the customer picked someone; offered only if you have a staff list |
| Maximum number of testimonials | 50 | Any number from 1 to 200 |
With star ratings off, aspect ratings are hidden too. On a wall that hides aspect ratings, a review that is only stars, with no text or video, is left out.
Show only reviews on certain topics
Every plan can use Show only reviews on certain topics, Free included. Tick Topics or Your tags, and the wall shows only the reviews that have at least one of them. Leave everything unticked to show all published reviews. When a review with text comes in, AI sorts it into topics, and if you added Custom tags in Settings, it also adds the ones that fit. Reviews with only stars or only a video get no topics or tags, so a wall with boxes ticked leaves them out unless you add topics yourself (see How Laudely uses AI, and what to check).
For example:
On your menu page, show only reviews about Taste.
On your booking page, show only reviews about Service or Booking.
On your delivery page, show only reviews about Delivery.
Under the boxes, the form says in one sentence which reviews the wall will show. After you save, it also shows how many published reviews match, for example Matching reviews: 12. On Free, the wall picks from the 10 reviews it shows.
Show reviews in the visitor's language first puts reviews written in the visitor's language at the top: a visitor reading your site in Japanese sees reviews in Japanese first, then the rest. No review is hidden.
Which reviews appear
Only reviews that are Approved & public. A review from a private message also needs the customer's agreement to public display.
Highlighted reviews come first, then the most recently published.
The wall's own words, such as buttons and labels, follow each visitor's browser language (any of the 12, English otherwise). If you switched on Translate reviews for visitors, reviews from your collect page are shown in the visitor's language when it's one of your Display languages, and in your default language otherwise. With translation off, every review shows in the language it was written in. Reviews you imported or typed in always stay original.
Translated reviews say "Translated from …", and reviews a customer tidied with AI writing help say so too. These notes can't be turned off.
Laudely never shows an average star rating.
Preview and embed code
The widget's page shows the Embed code with a Copy button, a Preview of your public reviews as visitors will see them, and How to add it to your site with short guides for website builders. The wall loads in the background and never blocks your page.
The preview updates after you press Save. On your website, changes can take up to about 15 minutes to appear.
Your widgets are also listed under Overview > Preview and share > Widgets, each with its layout and a Preview button that opens it in a new tab.
Limits by plan: Free: walls show up to 10 reviews per space, with a small "Made with Laudely" link. Starter: every approved review, and no link.
