Counter tablet mode
Put a tablet at your counter so customers can leave a review on the spot. The page starts over by itself and keeps nothing behind.
Counter tablet mode is a version of your collect page made for a tablet at your counter, front desk or checkout. Customers leave a review on the spot, and the page clears itself for the next person.
Get the link
Open Overview for your space.
Open Preview and share.
Find Counter tablet mode.
Press Open to see it, Copy to copy its link, or download its QR code with Download QR (standard image) or Download QR (for print, stays sharp when enlarged).
On a new space, Preview and share is folded while the Get started: get your first review and share it card is on the page; press its name to open it.
The link is your normal collect link with ?kiosk=1 added at the end. The Invite customers page points here too: press Go to Overview, and Preview and share opens at Counter tablet mode.
A review you send from the tablet to try it out is a real review. Reviews sent by you or your staff must never be made public, so delete it in Manage reviews when you're done. The reminder under Open says the same.
How it behaves
The form asks the same questions as your normal collect page: the star rating, the review text, photos, video, and your aspect ratings and Who served you? question if you set them up. A few things are different, so that one customer's details never reach the next:
There is no Email field.
After a review is sent, the thank-you page counts down 8 seconds and then shows an empty form. The customer can press Done to go back straight away.
If someone starts a review and walks away, Still there? appears after 60 seconds. Unless someone presses Continue, the form starts over 10 seconds later.
A form nobody has touched never resets, so the tablet can simply wait for the next customer.
The timer pauses while a video is being recorded or uploaded.
Nothing from the previous customer stays on the page, and the form doesn't suggest the previous customer's name.
No review-site buttons on the thank-you page
On your normal thank-you page, customers can see buttons for the review sites you chose under Platform links in Settings. In counter tablet mode these buttons never appear.
A tablet at your counter should not look like you are asking customers, on the spot, to go and rate you somewhere else. Reviews sent from the tablet arrive in Manage reviews as Awaiting approval, like any other review.
Set up the tablet
Open the counter tablet link in the tablet's browser, or scan its QR code with the tablet.
Turn on Guided Access (iPad) or screen pinning (Android), so customers stay on this page.
Connect the tablet to mobile data or to its own Wi-Fi network (see below).
Put the tablet where customers have a free moment, such as next to the till.
Offer the tablet to every customer in the same way, whatever kind of visit they had, and let anyone who'd rather review later do so. Never offer a discount, gift or any other reward for leaving a review.
Give the tablet its own network
About 20 reviews per hour can be sent from one network. If the tablet shares your shop's Wi-Fi with customers' phones, they all share that limit.
When the limit is reached, the page asks the customer to try again in a few minutes. Putting the tablet on mobile data or its own Wi-Fi avoids this.
Limits by plan: Free: counter tablet mode is included. Starter: included. Your plan's usual limits still apply, such as 3 video reviews per space on Free.
